SWR and power meters are instruments used to measure the standing wave coefficient (SW) and power output of ham radios.
Basic functions of SWR and power meters:
Power output measurement: Power output is measured in units of “W”. Other Features: Some SWRs and power meters offer other features such as: Impedance Measurement: Impedance is a measure of the resistance of an antenna. Frequency Measurement: Frequency is a measure of the number of oscillations per second. Auto Power Off: Auto Power Off turns off the SWR and power meters after a specified period of inactivity.
Types of SWR and power meters:
Analog SWR and power meters: Analog SWR and power meters use pointer meters to display the results.
Digital SWR and power meters: Digital SWR and power meters use digital displays to show the results.
Universal SWRs and power meters: Universal SWRs and power meters can be used with different types of ham radios.
